My neighborhood… Where my kids were born and grew up. So many memories.

Williamsburg was a industrial area 10 years ago and turned into a trendy and expensive neighborhood in a couple of years. Now it is Greenpoint’s turn. Just across the East river, you can get there by the East river ferry or by the L or G train.

In July, we witnessed the manhattanhenge from the transmitter park, when the sunset perfectly aligns with the east-west streets on the Main Street grid of Manhattan.

We went running at the mccarren park, had coffees at Blue bottle coffee, and just walked in still deserted streets in Greenpoint, before high rise buildings pop up along the river.

Kids went to summer camp for a week. I recommend the Greenpoint soccer camp at Buchwick Inlet Park: 8:30am-3pm, 5 days for a moderate price ($220 per week) and staff from England, Ireland and US.

If you plan to stay in Greenpoint, try to get a room in the Box Hotel House. IKEA decorated rooms but with taste and originality. You can get 1 bedroom with mezzanine for a family of 4.
